THE ISSUES

LAW ENFORCEMENT

As part of my responsibilities as County Commissioner, I am accountable for all law enforcement funding and oversight. During my tenure in office I have voted for and implemented the following changes in Law Enforcement.

  1. Increased the number of Deputy Sheriffs in patrol and investigations by 28%.

  2. Increased the number of Prosecutors in the County Attorney’s office by 50%.

  3. Increased the Law Enforcement budget county-wide by 85%.

  4. Increased the allocation of General Funds to Law Enforcement from 48% to 67% in four budget years.

  5. In 2009 68% of all of the general sales and property taxes went to the Sheriff's office. 88% of all general sales and property taxes went to public safety.

All of these increased services have come without an increase in property or other types of taxes!

These results demonstrate my commitment to be a Conservative, Effective, and a Reliable Republican.

FUTURE COMMITMENT

If re-elected I commit that:

  1. I will maintain Deputy Sheriffs assigned to canyon patrols, making our highways safer for motorists and recreation as requested by the Sheriff.

  2. I will maintain Deputies in the Sheriff's Office to investigate sex crimes perpetuated against our children.

  3. I will ensure that the Sheriff’s Office will have the best trained and most competent police force in the county, to enable prosecutors to put criminals behind bars thereby protecting our citizens.
