MY past PROMISES TO YOU

Four years ago I promised voters that while in office:

  • I would not accept a pay raise or cost of living increase.

  • I would not vote for a property tax increase without the vote of the people in a general election.

  • I would not accept gifts or gratuities from those who have business with the county government.

  • I would limit my income and work exclusively to that of the Utah County Commission.

I am pleased to report that I have kept all my promises to my employers and clients - you, the electorate!

When the measure to give county commissioners a pay raise came up, I voted against it. Though the measure passed, I have donated 100% of my net pay increase to charities and county services.

WHAT I'VE ACCOMPLISHED

Since I've been in office I have:

  • Increased funding for Utah County Law Enforcement by 32% without increasing taxes.

  • Cut costs by 38% for mental health services at the Wellness Recovery Clinic, while improving patient services.

  • Increased funding for aging services in Title XX and CDBG Federal Funds, without increasing taxes.

  • Cut restaurant sales tax by over $1 million a year, due to growth in revenues. (When we take in more than we need, we must give it back to the tax payers!)

  • Worked with State Legislators to pass bills that lower the cost of county government.

  • Provided the County Attorney's Office with a 50% increase in prosecutors - in one term!

MY PROMISES TO YOU FOR THE FUTURE

Throughout the remainder of my term and if re-elected:

  • I will maintain my philosophy of conservative government and fiscal responsibility ("Not one red cent!").

  • I will work to add 400 much needed beds to the county jail without a tax increase.

  • I will continue to add prosecutors to the County Attorney's office.

  • I will continue to add deputies to the Sheriff's Office to investigate sex crimes perpetuated against our children.
